Forest Hall

The Hall which gave it’s name to Forest Hall was built in 1690 and was demolished in the early 1960’s to make way for the building of Woodside Court off Westcroft Road.

In 1888 Forest Hall was described as a modern village of suburban residences (Bulmer’s Directory) and the same could still be said now. Today it has a population of approximately 5,000. The East Coast main railway line still runs through Forest Hall although the station is long gone, the Flying Scotsman Pub which opened in 1969 now stands on the site of the station.

Springfield Park is home to the tennis club, the bowling club, the community centre and allotments. It has a small children’s play ground.

The Bethesda Gospel Hall is now the only church in Forest Hall, Christ Church having been sold and turned into apartments.
